This city became famous because he was meant to drown in that river with his brother when they were left to die in a basket in the river. There are many advantages to being near the Tiber River. Romulus wanted Rome to be by the Tiber River because it was good for trade and it was a central area where the big city could be in the middle with all the small towns around on the outside. This would make Rome a great capital city because it would be good for trade and communication with others. Being near the Tiber River would be great for trade and importing an exporting goods. It would also be a perfect location for fertile farming land because the soil was so rich. The Tiber River also made travel easy if you owned a boat to travel. The Tiber River was also a great source of food because it had great fishing. Criminals were also thrown into the river to be punished. The Romans also made bridges across narrow parts of the river for people to have easier travel. The disadvantages would include flooding and it was a long distance to travel to get around the mountains. The TIber River was a huge river. It was very long and went through the mountains. Since it was a river, the fish in the river would eat all the unhealthy bacteria in the water which could make the Roman people sick. Because there is so much water, the flooding would destroy the crops and towns. If you wanted to get across the land easy, it would be difficult because of all the water in the way.

There were also many disadvantages that the Romans had with the geography of their land. There are so many bodies of water so the risk for flooding is great. Flooding would destroy their crops and cities. The other problem is that they have so much water and if you didn't own a boat, travel would be very difficult because you would have to go completely around the country to reach your destination. The last disadvantage is that communication is difficult because the people lived on the flat land and on the mountains. It was hard to communicate because people were so spread out. It was also hard for people to settle on the mountains. The flat land was the best for settling.
